General Information
Lunches and Snacks
We encourage children to enjoy lunch as a social occasion so they sit in mixed age groups for meals. It would be helpful if you could reinforce good table manners at home and ensure that children can use cutlery correctly. Every child needs an unbreakable container for their drink- no fizzy or chocolate drinks please.
Hot School Meals
The School now offers a Hot School meal at lunchtime. They are provided by Cygnet and delivered fresh each morning. Our School Cook, Mrs Christine Mills, then cooks the meals, baking fresh bread daily, making all the salads and sauces on site. These meals represent great value for money at £2.20 per day. There is a four week menu cycle with three choices daily - a dish of the day, a vegetarian option and a jacket potato with a variety of fillings plus a hot or cold desert. Bread or rolls often accompany the meals. The menus are balanced and nutritious and many products are locally sourced.
Orders are accepted fortnightly or half termly in advance. All the meals are provided in the same way for free entitled and paying pupils. If you think you may be entitled for free school meals, please contact the school office.

Packed Lunches
Healthy eating is strongly encouraged at St Mary's. After their savoury item, they may have a biscuit with as little chocolate as possible but not sweets. St Mary's is a 'nut-free' zone to protect those with allergies so please do not include food containing nuts. It would be helpful if your child can open all the containers or packets in their lunchbox. Please ensure the children's lunch boxes are clearly named and the children will bring them home each day to be washed.
Snacks
Only healthy snacks, such as a piece of fruit, carrot, tomato or cucumber are allowed at mid-morning break. These are supplied free to children in Key Stage 1 and can be purchased by children in Key Stage 2 (please contact the office).
We use the Cook Milk scheme for those who would like milk at mid-morning break. Please contact Cool Milk or 0800 321 3248 to arrange for this service. This is free of charge for children under 5 but still needs to be applied for to Cool Milk. Please note it is not administered by the School office but by parents directly to the company.
