St. Peter's

St Peter's is the Reception and Year 1 class where we aim to give the children practical, positive and enjoyable experiences to begin their school life. There is a strong emphasis on independent learning through play as well as through adult-directed activities. We have an outside area which plays an important part of our learning in all areas of the curriculum. Here you can see us.

I like to choose what I do. We find different ways to show what we have learnt. We love acting out stories and plays for our friends.
We are beginning to build a boat here then we can go on an adventure. Our trip to Bournemouth Oceanarium helped us to understand life underwater. At Longleat we enjoyed learning about life in the Rainforest.
Our wildlife area is a short walk from school and a popular outing with all ages. We were looking for signs of Autumn and checking the work done by Year 5 in cleaning out and relining the pond. We all thought Miss Smith was very brave to hold the tarantula.
Trying out our knowledge of Phonics (letters and sounds) Attempting writing for different purposes - making posters, maps and signposts for a country park Interacting, negotiating and imagining
Comparing quantities and practising measuring Finding out about living things, such as how a sardine eats, moves and breathes Creating, constructing and designing
